Welcome

Hi. I’m Aaron. I design stuff. If you’re here, it means you probably went to check slickpixel.com. First of all, thanks for being interested. Unfortunately, SlickPixel had become stagnant. I felt that I needed to justify my presence on the web by having a site that was dynamic and actually had something to offer. A two year old, stale site wasn’t it.

I have been thinking a lot about what I want SlickPixel to become. I have some really big plans which, when mixed with procrastination and anal retentiveness, mean big timelines. Which brings us both here. The SlickPixel blog site. This site will offer more up to date content, and serve as a nice replacement until the new full SlickPixel site is completed.

I hope you enjoy, and if not, you can always visit my old site here.

Dog days of Summer

So, this is a birthday card that I got from our dog Daisy. I think she had help from my parents, but it's still pretty impressive. I mean, wow, my dog has the presence of mind and consideration to get me a card.

However, she does not possess the necessary cognitive capacity to prevent herself from being afflicted by hookworms, ear mites, and mange. Yeah, that was the good news that we got from the vet today. But, I guess that's what you get when you take in a stray.

OK, gotta roll. My ear is itching terribly for some reason.

Twenty-six

Thanks to all of my great friends and family that made yesterday a nice birthday. You guys rock. You know who you are.

The Ray-Bandits may not be trail-blazers or trend-setters, but dern it, we're timeless.

Bird Snatcher

Some Recent Work

Here are a couple of dove illustrations that I did for my sister. These are based off of a necklace that she got as a gift from our late grandmother.

A few logos that I've worked on recently.

.

New Pooch

This is our new dog Daisy. We kind of rescued her since she was left in a field by our house. She's not terribly smart, but she is really sweet. Daisy's the first dog we've owned, so it's kind of cool. The cats are pissed though.

.

The Roots

Man, I forgot how much fun root canals are. I really shouldn't wait this long to get my face drilled for an hour and a half next time. But Dr. Gerard and his people were the best. We talked (I mumbled) NASCAR and iPhones while he annihilated my molar. It was the best.

It's been crazy busy lately, but I plan to but a ton of work up soon. Also, keep your eyes open for a video from a very interesting encounter we had this weekend.

Why I was late this morning

So this wreck held up Amanda and I this morning on our way in. Also, as you've probably guessed, I'm on Vimeo now.

Ugh

Geez Louise. I am so not happy with the sun right now. We get it, you're very hot and important. Now cut us some slack.

Success!

Oh man, it's going to be a long 6 hours til I get home. So excited.

Misc Morning Thoughts

So, I have days every now and then where work is kind of rough and I think I'd rather be out doing construction or something. No responsibility. No clients. Just hammering nails or cutting boards. Maybe I'd have one of those cool flat pencils and a tape measure. Maybe I wouldn't be important enough to have such sophisticated tools. Just a hammer and a bag of nails. Maybe some shingles or something. No cares. Just sun, sweat and tangible progress.

But I can whole-heartedly say that I haven't felt that way any day this week. What is it, like, four thousand degrees outside? Damn that. I'm just fine sitting here in my nice cool office on my nice soft chair clicking the day away. Rush projects? Ornery clients? No problem. I've got AC, and that's really all that matters to me right now. Yeah, I'll be just fine, thanks.

Shine On You Crazy T-Shirt

Well here they are folks. I honestly didn't think I'd get them done in time for some reason. My procrastinating tendencies, I reckon. Anywhos, big ups to C & K Embroidery who came through for me and got these done. Not to mention they made the call to use the sick metallic gold ink. Yeah.

The GL07 shirts are officially on sale. Ten bucks ($10) puts one in your hands. Twelve gets it shipped to you. Women's sizes available. Hit me up.

Limited first run. Get 'em while they last.

Yeah, dig that metallic gold ink. So pimp.

..

Exciting Day

Today should be good. I just won an ebay auction for a new digital camera. So stoked about that. Plus, the GL07 shirts are done and I'm picking 'em up tonight. Plus plus, Amanda gets back tomorrow so that rocks. The week is finally looking up. Rock on.
